She entered pornography in the early-1980s, starting with modeling in men's magazines under the name of Nina Alexander. She made her first adult films in 1982, and seemed ready to achieve success before leaving pornographic films in the mid 1980s to act in B-movies and television bit parts.
She returned to pornography in 1990, this time as Julia Parton, to capitalize on her relationship as a distant cousin of actress and country music superstar Dolly Parton by changing her name to Julia Parton. This time she worked in adult films until 1994, performing in only lesbian or girl/girl scenes. She attempted several other ventures, such as Porn Radio, which would have been "the first adult radio station on the Internet" in 1998, and an autobiography co-authored by Jason Sechrest in 2001, to be titled Saving Jezebel.
